Agenda
- How is LSAC dealing with the District Two candidates?
- Identity: logo, posters, etc
- Consolidating work plans
- Outreach opportunities: what are the ways to reach people through projects?
- Porthira: the LSAC has to recognize the refugee population
District Two Elections
- Look at our goals for the neighborhood through work groups (each should be developing 2-3 bullet points)
- Put out information about the election
- Thing about how to assist people in voting
- Mara will follow up with Carl on the platform development.
- It’s difficult to embrace this as an outreach/networking group. It’s more of a political action group’s charge to develop a platform.
- When something like this comes up in the neighborhood, where does it go?
- The platform is more for resident education – to make sure that they are voting for what they want for their neighborhoods.
- We haven’t planned candidate forums
- Our job is to create the structure/timeframe for work groups to respond; give them an example of what it should look like.
- Carl is coordinating the platform development. We could ask Tumis to print it.
- We should be clear that we are here to support the District Two education and outreach process.
Neighborhood Grants
- Meeting with potential committee members – did not have great attendance. The recruitment was challenging and we didn’t get much help from LSAC agencies. Another challenge is to provide orientation to them about the LSAC, MCO, etc.
- Our next step is visioning.
Community Outreach Work Group Identity
- Porthira and Jessica should think about their role as a member of the work group. Generally, who should be a member?
- There are structural issues we need to resolve: notes, decision making, administrative partners, program partners, etc.
- Part of our charge is to develop materials for orientation and to keep people in the loop.
- Porthira will send copies of the committee applications to the work group.
Identity
- What is the difference between MCO and LSAC?
- How do people identify themselves?
- There has to be buy-in
- If people are going to think outside of their agency, they need a tool that explains it.
- We are at a point of needing to take a lead in the direction of the Initiative and what we want.
- The neighborhood grants project can think about how they see the project intersecting with resident engagement priorities.
- We need to describe how agencies and individuals come on board and what does a resident or a CBO get out of participating?
- We should start next meeting by sharing where we are
- Sonya will be starting the process of consolidating the work plans so that we have the purpose, who we are, outlined.
- Mara will send any useful documents to the work group members.
- Elena will follow up with Deb and Favianna about design.
