Debrief on Casey Meeting
- Pat - Didn’t see early childhood outcomes.
- Focus on a collaborative project
- A lot of overlap among outcomes.
- Fred- We’re ahead of schedule in relation to other cohort two sites. Frank suggested integrating arts & culture outcome.
- Jennie- Question about timeline- next steps.
- Don- Narrow to priority areas- What was Frank saying about safety?
- Junious- Casey has avoided two of the most difficult outcomes-
- Kids- k-12 reform, ed reform
- No safety
- Casey has made a political decision.

- Need two stages of planning

- Need to link work across groups
- Recommendation to integrate outcomes
- Create a group to do work around integration
- Link small business outcomes
- Have work groups integrate outcomes and locate in Common Ground outcomes
- Attendees of Baltimore trip- figure out how to operationalize the plan.
- Jennie- Some committees gave emphasis on short term vs long term,
- Fred- Wise to think about one-year outcomes.
- Omowali- Budget- Need : total, Casey request, other
- Junious- Need to develop strategies and articulate them.
- Omowali- Used “strategy” and “activity” interchangeably. Need a more cohesive way of framing the work.
- David - Some things are connected and some things are missing. What’s reflected is what we’ve know for a longtime. Need to make hard choices about priorities.

- Difficult for everyone to have a role in the presentation.

Education Outcomes
- Education workgroup did not want to proceed – no presentation of LLP education documents.
- David- Implication that EBAYC work was not grounded in what residents wanted. Casey doesn’t have a “ High Quality School ” outcome. Parents want their kids to do well in school and have employment opportunities. Kids want high quality relationships in schools, smaller settings, challenging curriculum.
- Elena- Frank said integrate older youth outcome into other category.
- Jennie- Consider presenting another outcome on education and give compelling rationale. On Monday, try to bring education/safety/culture into other outcomes.
- David- will bring list of outcomes on Monday.
- Jessica- Look back at inventory to pull out early childhood.
Next Steps
- Omowali- Shift back to doing a more traditional action plan.
- Agree on a set of deliverables over first year priority areas.
- Elena- Casey integrated by collaborative structure- Need to talk about challenges. Need to figure out a system for receiving money.
