NEXT MEETINGS:
DECISIONS/AGREEMENTS:
There was agreement that the Collaborative should harness the momentum from the September meeting and carry forward work on a safety agenda for the LSA. The Collaborative is invited to attend the Garfield Parent Council meeting on October 10 th. This meeting will be in place of the regularly scheduled October Collaborative meeting.
There was discussion about how to follow-up on the Measure FF discussion. There was some concern that the presentation at the Collaborative meeting had been too one-sided. There was a suggestion to look at the materials the League of Women Voters has put out—their materials are nonpartisan.
Matt Beyers from the Urban Strategies Council presented the job description for a web site designer for the LSA Collaborative’s web site. The group thought it looked good and did not have any suggestions for changes.
Matt gave a brief update on the LLP. They are analyzing eviction data in preparation for the November election. There will be a public release of the Data Warehouse at the end of October, which will include recent updates and changes.
The presentation of the outcomes to the Casey Foundation will be on November 18-20th in Baltimore . The group decides to decide on the make-up of the delegation that will go. Fred suggested that half the delegation might be Collaborative members and half might be partners in the work.
Fred is encouraged by the progress that NCDI has made on developing outcomes and indicators. NCDI is producing a matrix. Frank Farrow, who directs the Technical Assistance Resource Center (TARC) at the Casey Foundation, is open to coming to Oakland prior to the November presentation in Baltimore . It was suggested that Fred invite Frank and Bart to attend the presentation of the outcomes to the Collaborative on October 24th.
The group discussed what the process for ratification of the outcomes should look like. It was decided to hold a special meeting of the Planning Committee on October 10th to decide on the process. Fred pointed out that community sign-off on the outcomes does not have to occur before the presentation to Casey. A preliminary document can be presented to Casey, which is then formally adopted by the community.
Fred has been participating in meetings with a steering committee that is planning to launch a county-wide Earned Income Tax Credit campaign. The Casey would like to support the campaign with special attention to the Lower San Antonio. There will be a meeting on October 31st to present the campaign.
