Promotoras Update:
- Kristen reported that 18 Promotoras had completed the training and graduated in September. They are currently doing a diabetes training as a follow-up. The next step is to design an action plan with the Promotoras around diabetes as well as with a broader view. They use a MAC ( model of community action) that has a popular education framework. The action plan will be defined in the next couple of weeks.
- Kristen also explained their vision for the “Train the Trainer” series for early next year. She explained that it would involve a mix of people who could be trained to train others in the model.
- La Clinica would like to meet with Fred to discuss next year’s grant possibilities, either granting to La Clinica or other CBOs. For sustainability, it makes sense to link to Cambodian Community Development and other small CBOs. It was suggested that the work group be a part of the meeting with Fred. Also, the idea of including a mini-grant process where CBOs can apply for the train the trainer piece was mentioned.
