Promotoras Update
Kristen reported that recruitment for the Spanish pilot of the project is well underway. They have four people signed up from Monday’s event and they’ve realized how important it is to personally invite people. They need more help from others to do this. Francell will look into her community health teams. Anita from the Sickle Cell Community Health Network offered to collaborate on the project as well.
Kristen also brought back up the idea of having the health work group serve as an advisory group for the programs that will start in languages other than Spanish. Other group members restated their support for this plan. We need to bring ideas for who to recruit to the August work group meeting. Kristen will continue to work on developing a structure for the advisory group, including the objectives, responsibilities of the group so that people are very clear on what they will do and why they should join.
LSAC Updates
Mara gave brief updates on the site report, transition plan and general news from the Lower San Antonio Collaborative. Kristen raised some questions about the Outcomes/Results that the Health Work Group (and specifically, the Promotoras Project) are expected to meet and a need for complete clarity around what is realistic and appropriate. There were also concerns raised about the transition plan. The Health Work Group, mainly held together by the Promotoras Project, is in need of revitalization and expansion before the transition takes place. It was recommended that the work group meet with Junious and Fred to discuss some of these issues. Mara recommended that Kristen also come to the Planning Committee to raise these issues.
